The Start, 1999
During the dotcom boom, while he was in college, Rodger started what would become one of the Top 3 online retailers for magazine subscriptions. Outsourcing platforms were still new, but Rodger utilized some of the early platforms such as oDesk or basic admin work.
1999
Progression, 2000-2019
Through multiple software and e-commerce businesses, Rodger utilized freelance platforms and staffing agencies to build global, remote teams.
Remote teams performed critical business functions thoughout customer service, software development, sales and admin support, and marketing in many countries such as India, Philippines, Thailand, and more.
Rodger experienced typical challenges, such as contractors stopping work but still collecting pay and difficulty working with agencies where communication is only done through middle managers. Throughout this experience, Through trials and tribulations, Rodger learned the hard lessons of managing remote teams.
One Bed, 2019
In 2019, right before a global pandemic, Rodger started One Bed, which has become a leading online brand for bedding that's both luxurious and better functioning
Though a recruitment agency and direct hiring, Rodger built a full remote team in the Philippines (with support from other countries who run and manage all aspects of the business, including Customer Service, Marketing, and Operations.
Throughout the life of One Bed, Rodger has honed the company's processes and his core beliefs about how freelance marketplaces and staffing agencies are not fully servicing clients and talent in a transparent way that maximally benefits everyone.
2019
Taskparent, 2024
In 2024, Taskparent starts in earnest after years of development.
Taskparent is a radically transparent staffing agency aiming to service clients and talent how they want to be served, whether it's full service, self-service, or bespoke services as a business needs it (such as SOP and Process development).
We are excited to continue to work to fulfill our mission of connecting the maximum of global talent with businesses in a fair and transparent to transform lives globallly.
